TRAVEL AROUND THE TURKISH CRESCENT

The relics of the Turkish age have long been inseparable from the image of Pécs. The aim of the Festival is to introduce different elements of Turkish culture and make their presence felt more intensively in the city for a few weeks in addition to the old, static buildings. The three-week programme will give a rich taste of Turkish culture. Different artists and works of art – Kurdish musicians, dancers, and cooks, the underground rock and jazz of Istanbul, contemporary film and photography – will come to Pécs from all parts of Turkey, but special emphasis will be given to Hungarian performing actors, bands and experts who have sound knowledge of the traditions of the Turkish nation and can interpret them authentically. As popular elements of any festival like this one, the programme will also feature gastronomic shows, food tasting, and handicraft markets.
Admission to the outdoor events is free of charge.
