Introduction
Dear Reader,
Welcome to our homepage.
Hungarofest Nonprofit Ltd. for the Organization of Cultural Events started its activity in 2000 as a background institution of the former Ministry of National Cultural Heritage, later the Ministry of Education and Culture. Now we work as a background institution of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice, our main tasks being the organization and management of such events as the national memorial days and national holidays.
At the beginning our main activity was the introduction of Hungarian culture abroad, and we also worked as the organizing office for several prestigious artistic scholarships, festivals and musical competitions (e.g. Hungarian-Russian Cultural Season 2004-2005, Dutch Cultural Season 2004, Italian Cultural Season 2002, French Cultural Season 2001).
In the past years we have been focusing mainly on program-organizing, cultural strategy and cultural marketing in Hungary. Among our most significant programs there was the extremely successful Renaissance Year 2008 with almost 1,000 events, which attracted more than 3 million visitors.
We took part as the managers of the communication public procurements and organizers of several highlight programs of the most important series of cultural events in the history of Hungary: the Pécs 2010 European Capital of Culture. In the first half of 2011 we managed the cultural programs of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and took part in the organization of the residential communication in Hungary, too. Our tasks include the coordination of musical seasons related to jubilees, like coordination and organizing the programs of the Haydn Year 2009, Erkel-Mahler Year 2010 and Liszt Year 2011.
Three offices (KLASSZ Music Office, Égtájak Office, Cultural Contact Point) and the National Event Organizing Division belong to the organization of Hungarofest.
KLASSZ Music Office started its activity on 1st March 2008. Its role has been mainly the coordination of music seasons of jubilees. Thus, among others, the office has been preparing, coordinating, and organizing the Haydn Year of 2009 (on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the composer's death), the Erkel-Mahler Year in 2010 (celebrating the 200th as well as the 150th anniversary of the composers' birth), and the Liszt Year in 2011 (on the 200th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous musician).

Égtájak Office – by means of their continuously augmenting programs – has been making contacts through culture between Hungary and the transborder Hungarian regions as well as between some of the transborder Hungarian areas for 14 years.
The cultural programs organized are important and significant events for the Hungarians here and beyond this country, and have been contributing to the development of cultural and touristic life of Hungary and neighboring countries.
